I know it's not necessary to have a screen saver, but I don't like being distracted by all the icons on the screen. I had the same problem: preview would work, but then when it mattered, it didn't Now if you want a solution, try this : install, or re-install Microsoft Visual C++Īpparently, some screensavers, or Windows itself, needs this to have it working correctly. Well, you're cutting many corners here, not sure where to start. Anything that does not run correctly, especially a simple program like a screen saver, should be removed before it crashes your system and causes bigger problems. If this screensaver is causing problems I suggest you remove it.
With the new LCD and LED monitors that is not a problem any more. So M/Soft Windows instituted a "screen saver" (from where we get the name) that would change the image periodically. If left for long periods of time (like overnight) with the same, static screen projection, the phosphorescent coating on the inside of the glass would get a permanent "ghost" image that was not removable. Screensavers are an archaic utility from the old CRT monitor days. I hope I don't annoy you with this response, but you are better off without it.
